There are two most common types of the herpes virus, they are the herpes simplex virus type 1 and type 2. The type 1 virus usually causes herpes infection in the area of the mouth or what is referred to as oral herpes, while the type 2 virus causes the infection in the genital area. Both are equally contagious and anybody infected with herpes would seek for an effective herpes treatment.
Herpes infection only bothers a person infected with this virus during an outbreak. Other than that, when the virus is at its dormant stage, those carrying the virus can live an absolute normal life. Herpes treatment is then available to help soothe symptoms during a herpes outbreak. Anti viral medications may also be used to shorten the length of an outbreak and minimize the appearance of lesions on the skin.
Not everybody who gets in contact with a herpes virus carrier immediately manifests skin blisters thru a herpes outbreak. Depending on how healthy a person may be, some would immediately show off symptoms in as early as 2 days while others may never show it at all. Even without showing any symptoms, they are still not considered safe. Since they already contracted the virus, they can potentially infect their partners with or without showing any symptoms of herpes.
The use of herpes treatment during an initial outbreak may be very necessary. It is believed that the most painful of all outbreaks is the first outbreak. It usually starts with a flu-like symptom and followed by an itchy and tingling sensation on the area affected. It is then followed by the appearance of skin lesions that may be small or big. These lesions slowly become open sores and may become very uncomfortable and painful. After which, the open sores will dry up and slowly scab off. At this stage, a person with herpes is free to have skin to skin contact without infecting another person.
